CRITERIA FOR ORLHNS AWARDS 2023

1. CORLHNS LONG SERVICE AWARD
  • Nominees must be CORLHNS / MSOHNS members in benefit, who have served at total of at least 10 years.
  • There should be a minimum 1 year exco membership during the period of membership.
2. CORLHNS OUTSTANDING PUBLIC AND HEALTHCARE SERVICES AWARD (OPHSA)
  • Nominee must be a member of CORLHNS / MSOHNS in benefit, and must have contributed significantly to public and healthcare services.
  • The public and healthcare services may be, for example, in health campaigns, research and new scientific development, introduction of new services and treatment modality in the country or in breakthrough research in public and healthcare matters.
  • There should be only one award per year, and award made only when there is a suitable nominee.
3. CORLHNS MERITORIOUS SERVICE AWARD
  • Nominee must be a member of the CORLHNS / MSOHNS in benefit, unless there are exceptional circumstances relating to a past member not in benefit.
  • Nominee must have served the society, for not less than 10 years. Exceptions may be made if the nominee has been a member for less than 10 years, provided he has made major and significant contributions.
  • The contribution must be towards building up the society and for maintaining the good name and status of the society nationally and internationally and/or to have represented the society.
  • There should only be one award per year and award made only if there is a suitable nominee.
4. CORLHNS HEALTHCARE SERVICES AWARD (HSA)
  • Nominee must be a non-member and a non-medical practitioner.
  • This award is to recognise a person (Malaysian or foreigner) who has made significant contributions to the ENT services for the country or internationally, and/or has been associated with activities of the CORLHNS / MSOHNS in the interest of the society and the profession.
  • Only one award per year for a suitable candidate.
5. CORLHNS OUTSTANDING SURGICAL TRAINER AWARD
  • Any person, past or present, who has contributed to ORL education and training in Malaysia.
  • Open to persons of all nationality, including from overseas. Does not necessarily be an CORLHNS / MSOHNS member.
  • The person could be from any ORL speciality or subspeciality, public hospital or private hospital or from academic and research institutions, but must have contributed significantly in training and education of ORL HNS surgeons in Malaysia.
  • State 3 outstanding contributions.
  • Only one may be awarded per year.
GENERAL RULES FOR ALL THE ABOVE AWARDS
  • Nominations for all the five categories may be made by any individual member of the CORLHNS/MSOHNS, and submitted to the Hon Gen Secretary of the CORLHSN/MSO HNS.
  • Call for nominations must be made by the last week of April each year, and nominations should be submitted to exco by the 30th April each year, which would allow nominations of suitable candidates to be discussed at exco.
  • Nominations may be considered by the a special [appointed by the Exco] Awards Committee by the first week of May, and the recommendations submitted to the exco for approval before announcement to successful awardees.
  • The award will be a certificate, and with either a medal or a plaque.
  • A person may receive only one award in the same year.
  • The nominations must be accompanied by a curriculum vitae of the nominee.
  • The awards may be presented during the CORLHNS/MSOHNS Annual Dinner, with a brief citation on each of the winners.
